Refresh Halfway

The Green Lantern Inn Hotel & Gardens is the perfect halfway stop between JHB & Durban/South Coast. Situated on the boarder of KZN & the Freestate at the top of Van Reenen’s pass. Just 1km drive from the N3 to a relaxing, homely haven.

The large English Country Gardens with a kids play area, animal farm, tea garden, pub lunches & restaurant make it the ideal place to stretch your legs, especially when travelling with children or pets. Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads in the garden. We also have an array of accommodation options, ale Carte restaurant & famous pub for guests overnighting. Book one of our couples or family rooms, a pet friendly chalet or our self catering cottage to break the long journey.

The Green Lantern has served as a Halfway stop since 1892 when travellers were coming through the pass on ox-wagon, the hotel is named after for the large green lantern that signalled to travellers they had reached the top of the mountain pass, particularly helpful on misty nights.
